Territory Discoveries is a Government Business Division and the commercial wholesaling arm of Australia's Tourism NT. World.Net secured a contract with TD and has help them create another booking channel as a value added service to their consumers. With this latest addition bookings can now be made securely and conveniently in real time via the Internet in addition to walking into their tourism centre or using the phone.
In this initiative, World.Net has set up the TWN system to maintain TD's product information, the development of the tourism web portal and the setting up of the TWN portal content management system. This project is also unique besides being challenging because all bookings are made via the existing Calypso booking engine rather than the TWN engine. Thus World.Net's experience in systems integration was put to good use here where a middle tier API interface was developed to enable TWN to communicate with Calypso to process bookings seamlessly and transparent to the end users while at the same time easy to maintain and scale.
At this point World.Net has completed phase one in which TWN is set up and the development of the API and web portal is completed www.northaustraliaoutback.com. Accommodations and flights are now bookable via the web portal. Phase two will wrap up the project by the inclusion of Tours and Vehicle booking capabilities as well as the inclusion of more flights via integration to Amadeus.
